Parliament to align with MW2063 Agenda

Speaker of the National Assembly Catherine Gotani Hara has backed the proposal to align Parliament’s interventions to Malawi 2063 development agenda.
She said this in Lilongwe Wednesday, when National Planning Commission (NPC) officials courted Parliament on the MW2063 agenda.
“The MW2063 agenda will act as a guiding tool for ensuring that plans that will be prioritised at national, district and constituency levels are being formulated according to national development aspirations,” Gotani Hara said.
NPC Chairperson Richard Mkandawire said taking the agenda to Parliament would help in meeting the country’s goals.
“Madam Speaker, not only do members of Parliament bring to the Assembly development needs of their constituents; they are also party to the formulation of their plans in order to ensure that constituencies embark on the most transformative initiatives that will improve the welfare of the people,” he said.
Mkandawire said NPC had a project called Malawi Priorities, under which stakeholders are identifying initiatives that offer the most value for money using cost-benefit analysis.
