Patience Namadingo’s label wants more out of Malawi

Elation Entertainment, a Pan African record label and talent management outfit that has been managing the country’s celebrated musician Patience Namadingo since 2018, has said that there is massive talent in Malawi, which the world needs to experience.
The company has since pushed its waves to collaborate with Musicians Union of Malawi (Mum).
Elation Entertainment Chief Executive Officer Sokwani Chilembo said Tuesday that, through this collaboration, they will also have a focus on Malawian music and artists through a television platform.
“I also run a record label called Elation Entertainment, under which Namadingo is signed. We want more artists to access our studios and videographers out of Malawi and also get pushed into establishing themselves more in Zambia and also have gigs here,” he said.
Chilembo said, given what they have developed together with Namadingo, they want to dig deeper, hence creating a relationship with Mum and that what they have started is a movement that will change the landscape of music business in the Southern Region.
Elation Entertainment has since signed a deal with Power Television, Zambia’s music and entertainment television channel which has now expanded its presence beyond Zambia through DStv and Gotv platforms in Malawi, Zimbabwe, Botswana and Namibia.
The deal gives birth to a new live music reality show that will see contestants from Zambia, Zimbabwe and Malawi competing for the crown of the region’s best talent in season one of the show dubbed My Booth.
The contestants will share one house, one band and one microphone for the ultimate prize.
The panel of judges for the reality show, which starts on May 14 2023 with 13 episodes, includes Namadingo, Chilembo and Maureen Lilanda.
Power TV Chief Executive Officer Kenny Tonga said Malawian musicians will also have an opportunity to have their music videos beamed on Power TV across the region.
“We are pleased to announce that we have a new show called Malawi Big Five,” Tonga said.
Mum President Vita Chirwa said they were happy to engage Elation Entertainment.
