Flames legend Patrick Mabedi has promised to work hard to help Malawi Under-23 National Football Team impress at the forthcoming Under-23 Football tournament to be held in Turkey from March 24 to 29.
The same team is also expected to represent the country in Africa Nations Championship and Olympics qualifiers.
The former Kaizer Chiefs captain and assistant coach was hopeful of doing well despite having short time of preparations.
“We have tried our best to assemble the best talent within that age bracket. We hope to do better and we will try to work on coordination during training,” he said.
Mabedi, who is also Malawi Under-20 coach, is expected to take charge of the 31-member squad under the guidance of Football Association of Malawi (Fam) Technical Director Mario Marian Marinica.
Flames Under-17 coach De Klerk Msakakuona is part of the technical panel.
Meanwhile, the under-23 team was expected to go into camp Sunday.
Nyasa Big Bullets football clubs (senior side, reserve and youth) have contributed about 11 players to the 31-member squad.
Some of the well-known players in the squad are Peter Banda of Simba SC, Dila Gori attacker Francisco Madinga and Sheriff Tiraspol defender-cum-midfielder Charles Petro.
