Paul Chidale, Makin win Sparc golf
Malawi’s number two ranked golfer, Paul Chidale, shone like a beacon when he won Sparc Systems Limited golf tournament held at Lilongwe Golf Club on Saturday.
It was Sparc’s first golf tournament in Lilongwe after organising such tournaments in the Southern Region.
Playing off handicap three, Chidale beat 76 golfers to win the competition with 40 points, two points ahead of second-placed Adack Sailesi. Ashu Godambe came third after collecting 37 points.
In his victory speech, Chidale was delighted with his performance.
“I did well and enjoyed playing golf. I would like to thank Sparc Systems Limited for organising the tournament in Lilongwe,” Chidale said.
In the ladies category, Sue Makin triumphed followed by Sandra Komakechi and Jochebed Mpanga on second and third places respectively.
Medson Loka and Herbert Rwamibazi won the longest drive and nearest-to-the pin respectively, whereas Makin won the longest drive in the ladies category.
Speaking during prize presentation ceremony, Sparc Systems Limited managing director, Wisely Phiri, described the competition as a success.
“The golf tournament is a good platform to interact with our customers. We will come back next year in a bigger way,” Phiri said.
