Paying the price of lop-sided decisions

I need to pat on the back clubs that are against Flames Coach, Ronny van Geneugden’s proposal to have week-long training camps for the national team.

The much touted tactician, who is smarting from a miserable Cosafa Castle Cup outing having played 270 minutes without a goal, proposed a monthly week-long camping to his pay masters, Football Association of Malawi (Fam).

In his wisdom Ronny, popularly known as RVG, thinks this is a fast way his players would adapt to his much touted philosophy of playing a pass-and-move game.

But Be Forward Wanderers and Silver Strikers have openly spoken against this archaic arrangement. In my opinion, only a fool would disagree with these clubs.

Any sane person knows that Ronny’s arrangement is ridiculous and counterproductive because this has never happened anywhere in the world.

This arrangement needs to be nicked in the bud. It does not require rocket science to know that you do not teach an old dog new tricks so how can this coach teach such old and rusty players a new philosophy?

It is my conclusion that the coach is panicking because of the strings of poor results he has registered. He doesn’t know what to do to bail himself out of this mess.

These are tactics which clueless coaches deploy when the going gets tough. Watch this space, the gentleman from the West will continue falling all over the place.

However, the coach is not entirely to blame for sending the nation into weeping but the strongest blame must be piled on Fam Executive Committee for coming up with such a lopsided decision.

I mean a decision to employ someone who is paid in United States Dollars only to become a burden on Malawi football.

Fam should not resist the volleys of abuses from irate fans and media because they employed a coach who always finds convenient excuses when the team fails and thinks that Malawians are brainless to buy those silly excuses.

The employment of the coach with lukewarm pedigree confirms that Malawi football is rotten to the core.

Fam must know that Malawi football is sick enough as it is being propelled into deeper shame by such disgraceful decisions.

What Fam should know is that it is true that, in football, uprisings are difficult to achieve but that does not mean they will never occur.
