Renowned social media influencer Pemphero Mphande has urged youths in the country to abstain from sex and refrain from other immoral behaviours that may ruin their lives.
Mphande said there is need for youths to concentrate on their education so that they became productive citizens.
He made the remarks on Saturday at Zomba Community Hall during Youth Health Friendly Services awareness day where he offered a motivational talk to the youths.
The event was spiced up with performances such as poetry, music and drama.
Some of the artists who performed during the event included Lipepedwa and Slyc of the ‘Ndapanga Dala’ fame.
‘‘We are facing a challenge to reduce HIV/ Aids prevalence amongst the youths. We need to provide more youth health friendly service centres where young people can speak out and access sexual reproductive health services,” Pemphero said.
Zomba Central Hospital Youth Health Friendly Services Coordinator Leticia Mulupwa said they will strive to use youth gatherings like music shows, to disseminate sexual reproductive health services related messages to the young people.
Lipepedwa real name Rodney Rabson challenged fellow artists to use their talent to disseminate important messages to the people to bring about change as well as use their prominence to reach out to the masses.
