Malawi National Football Team attacker Peter Banda is expected to debut for his Moldovan side Sheriff Tiraspol this Saturday.
The Moldova champions host Sfintul Gheorghe FC in the east European country’s league.
Banda joined Sheriff on a six-month loan deal last week from Nyasa Big Bullets.
He is expected to team up with compatriot and former Bullets defender Charles Petro after undergoing month-long trials.
Banda said he was looking forward to proving that he is the right player to help Sheriff win matches.
“I am doing well here and everything is fine. I am working hard to be part of the squad that will be selected to play on Saturday. I am ready to give my best. I am confident that I will have a good game once I get the chance to play,” Banda said.
After Saturday’s match, Sheriff will also play Zimbru Chisinau next week Wednesday on their quest to defend the league title.
The Moldavan league resumes on Saturday after it was suspended in November last year.
Petro said winning the league title with Banda would be an unforgettable occasion.
“It would be great for Peter to win the league in his first season. We did it together at Bullets and we want a repeat of that here. We are both working hard to achieve this,” Petro said.
Sherriff are topping the Moldova league table with 55 points from 20 matches.
