Flames attacker Peter Banda has been nominated for Simba’s fans player of the month award for February.
The youngster has been in form for the Tanzanian giants, including scoring a goal in the 3-1 victory over Asec Mimosa of Ivory Coast in Confederation Cup recently.
His impressive form has seen him getting nominated alongside Tanzanian full back Shomari Salum Kapombe and centre back Henock Baka from the Democratic Republic of Congo.
The winner will be selected by Simba fans through vote.
This is the first time for the former Nyasa Big Bullets forward to be nominated for the accolade in Tanzania.
In an interview from Tanzania, Banda said he was humbled to be among the nominees for the award.
“It feels great and I am motivated. I will continue working hard to help the team. The sky is the limit for me,” Banda said.
Banda started his Simba career on a low note but he has regained his form, scoring two goals for the club in all competitions this season.
The youngster was part of the Flames Afcon squad and featured in two matches.
Flames coach Meck Mwase said it was great news for the youngster.
“Peter is one of the talented players and I am not surprised that he has settled well in Tanzania. There is more to come from him,” Mwase said.
Banda joined Simba on a three-year deal from Nyasa Big Bullets after the expiry of his six-month loan deal at Tiraspol Sheriff in Moldova, where he scored seven goals.
His compatriot Duncan Nyoni returned to Silver Strikers after being released by the club.
