Blossoming Flames attacker Peter Banda continues to hog the limelight in Europe after some clubs have shown interest in signing the youngster.

The forward, who is on loan at Moldovan giants Tiraspol Sheriff until June this year, is on the radar of an unnamed top side in Hungary.

His Moldova-based manager Alex confirmed the development but was reluctant to disclose details.

“It is a good team from Europe but, for now, he must concentrate on his football,” he said.

Reports have been rife that some of the teams interested in the attacker include Slavia Praha, Rapid Veina and Maccabi Tel Aviv in Israel.

However, Alex Istrati described the reports as “just rumours”.

Banda has made an impressive start to his career in the Moldova National Division, having scored two goals and provided one assist.

When contacted Friday, the Flames forward refused to comment on the matter, saying his focus was to fight for a place in the starting line-up at Sheriff.

Peter, son to late Chikondi Banda, became the third Malawian player in Eastern Europe after defender Charles Petro joined the same club last year and Francisco Madinga Junior, who is in Georgia at Dira Goli FC.

Football analyst George Kaudza Masina believes the forward has adapted well to the demands of European football.

“Peter has great potential. He should just remain focused and I am optimistic that more good teams will be after him soon,” Masina said.

The youngster, who signed a three-year deal with Bullets in February last year, was named as TNM Super League player of the season in 2019 after helping Bullets to defend the league title with 71 points.
