Peter Banda ruled out

Malawi National Football Team has suffered a big blow in its preparations for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Ethiopia after winger Peter Banda withdrew from the squad due to injury.
The development means Banda will also miss the Flames’ second qualifier against Guinea in Conakry.
Fam Competitions and Communications Director Gomezgani Zakazaka described the development as a big blow to the Flames.
“We will indeed be without Peter for the two qualifiers. This is a big blow for the Flames and we can only wish him quick recovery,” Zakazaka said.
Banda joins left back Mark Fodya and captain Limbikani Mzava, who have also been ruled out because of injury.
In the Simba winger’s absence, Flames coach Mario Marinica could use Mighty Mukuru Wanderers attacker Yamikani Chester.
Marinica will certainly not sweat over Mzava’s absence as he has Lawrence Chaziya who has proved to be a perfect replacement.
The Flames will also be without striker Richard Mbulu, who has been left out due to poor performance.
The Flames take on Ethiopia at Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe on Sunday before meeting Guinea away some four days later.
