Peter Mutharika appeals for calmness

President Peter Mutharika cast his vote at Goliati Polling Centre in Thyolo District during Tuesday’s tripartite elections.
Speaking to journalists later, Mutharika appealed for continued peace.

“It is good to see that people are calm. When I was coming here, I could see that people are peaceful. I would also like to urge all registered voters to exercise their right and choose leaders of their choice,” he said.
Mutharika was accompanied by First Lady Gertrude Mutharika, who did not vote at Goliati. Notable people such as Democratic Progressive Party Southern Region governor Charles Mchacha and director of elections Ben Phiri were present.
