Peter Mutharika calls for investment in science, technology to develop Africa

President Peter Mutharika opened the first extra-ordinary Summit of the African Union’s Committee of the Heads of State and Government (C10) in Lilongwe with a call for more investments in education, science and technology to develop Africa.

“Our mission is to ensure that Africa has the right education for African progress. Our goal is to ensure that such education is inclusive, equitable and of desirable quality. We want to promote life-long learning of our people. This is the education we want for Africa by 2063,” he said.

The Committee of Ten Heads of State and Government championing Education, Science and Technology in Africa was endorsed by the African Union Assembly of January 2018 and held its inaugural meeting in Addis Ababa on 27 January 2018.
