Peter Mutharika preaches love
President Mutharika has urged the youth to value education if they want to achieve their dreams in life. He also called on them to show love and respect to peers and elders at all times.
Mutharika was speaking at Sanjika Palace in Blantyre on Tuesday afternoon as he and the First Lady Gertrude Mutharika hosted about 2,000 youth from various religious denominations in the Southern Region.
Mutharika pushed aside his prepared speech and opted for a question and answer delivery style in which he asked the younger guests what makes a President and what Christmas means.
“Be loving people. Love your parents, love your friends, love your relatives, respect your teachers, and respect your leaders and chiefs… the First Lady and I are very happy to have you here, God bless you,” said Mutharika.
The youth, most of them pre-teens, were treated to a lunch, snacks, access to so some high slides, jumping castles and trampoline and a dance with the President and the First Lady with the crowd’s favourite number being the popular Chimzy Kelly’s Dorica.
