Gifted gospel singer Peter Sambo has received criticism from people for lacking seriousness in propelling his music career.

He has shown potential by producing fantastic songs which have moved souls only to disappear from the scene.

Sambo, who is currently studying theology at World Alive, admits he has not been that vibrant in the music circles but is quick to point out that he was still on a searching spree both spiritually and musically.

“My journey has been a searching spree both spiritually and musically sense of it but now I have found what to do. This is why I am out with a DVD and also studying theology because I believe that is what I was called to do,” he said.

The gospel singer, who has been involved in controversies in the past years, said his absence on the music scene was all about soul searching and upgrading.

“There are a lot of changes in music these days; it’s tough out there for one to distribute music. In the past years we were relying on OG Issa but now it’s a different story so I was trying to look at proper ways of distribution,” said Sambo.

He revealed that he has new equipment which has armed him to finally put on the ground his DVD which opens up the way as he is also working on a new album.

“I don’t want to say much but I am recording new songs in Zambia and Malawi. I am working with producers like Joseph Tembo and Yesaya Nkhwazi and I promise people that I will be producing an album every year,” said the Ndife Nyali, star.

Sambo also said that he has put up a label known as Legendary Music which is based in Lilongwe.

“Through this label I will also be promoting fellow artists and it is called legendary because I am looking at working with legends. At the moment I am trying to work with Billy Kaunda,” he said.

Sambo said the DVD which has eight songs is titled Peter Sambo, the man and the music and that it is a compilation of songs from all his albums as well as interviews.

“I have been working on this DVD for two years. I shot it in Botswana and Malawi. Apart from music, its full of interviews, telling people, who I am. Through this DVD I am coming face to face with the people and answering all the questions which they have always asked,” he said.

Sambo said the DVD will be out on the market on Monday and that it will be selling only at World Alive and Calvary Family Church in Blantyre, Crossroads BP Filling Station in Lilongwe and Katoto BP Filling Station in Mzuzu.

“I have done this deliberately because I am trying to curb piracy and at the same time I want people to get an original copy,” he said.

The artist said he will be holding shows but not frequently with his comeback concert in November set to feature two gospel acts – one from Botswana and another from South Africa.

Currently Sambo has four albums namely Pa Calvary (2002), Tachilowa Chaka China (2004), Ndife Nyali (2009) and Monga Mufunira (2012).
