Photo Challenge comes to life
A picture is worth a thousand words so goes an English saying and it refers to the notion that a complex idea can be conveyed with just a single still image.
This is what brings us to the art of photography which has seen photographer, Peter Makwana, and other colleagues introduce a Photo Challenge aimed at telling the story of Malawi to the world.
Makwana, who has won the hearts of many people with his photographs which he posts on different platforms as well as his Facebook page said yesterday that his wish was to grow the Photography Challenge every year.
“My wish is to grow this photo challenge each year and with more support we can do more,” Makwana said.
The Photography Challenge started on April 23 and will run up to May 19.
Mwakwana said the Photography Challenge started three years ago with the purpose of supporting to promote the country.
“Through this Photography Challenge we want to promote our tourism sector to the world and also encourage each other as Malawians to appreciate our country,” he said.
The photographer said he has always been positive about Malawi and that this is one of the ways he feels could showcase what Malawi has to offer to the world.
Makwana said the Photography Challenge comes normally during the first five months of the year.
“This is even better as we have partners that have spiced up with different prizes,” he said.
Makwana hailed partners such as The President Walmont Hotel, The Warm Heart Adventures, Mwala Cottage, Nthalo Restaurant, Sunset Safaris, Misuku Expeditions and The Travel Malawi Guide.
The first prize is bed and breakfast night away for two at Cape Maclear in Mangochi at Warm Heart Adventures Lodge while the second position is a day trip to Senga Bay in Salima – lunch at Mwala Cottage and photography with Misuku Expedition and Malawi Guide.
The prize on position three is dinner for two at Elegant Wild Orchild Restaurant at the Five Star President Walmont Hotel in Lilongwe while position four is traditional lunch at Nthalo Restaurant in Lilongwe.
The fifth prize is airtime worth K5,000.
