Hip-hop star Phyzix last Monday released a promotional freestyle song on social media as curtainraiser to the album Flaws which he is set to drop on March 26.

The artist, who last year won awards in inaugural Malawi Hip Hop and Urban Music People (UMP) awards, said the freestyle is an insight into what people should expect from his new album.

The new album is a follow-up to his best-selling Gamba Season project which he released in April last year.

“The year 2020 was super for me and now I am bringing my 14th album which is a collection of my mistakes, raps and principles, “ Phyzix said.

The growing feedback from fans has since prompted him to introduce a freestyle contest whereby aspiring rappers stand to walk away with cash for best verse.

“It looks like there is a lot of excitement around the Flaws freestyle, and this is great for the hip-hop culture; so those who think can do it better there is a chance to win K50,000 by recording their own verse in the #FlawsFreestyleChallenge and fans will, through online voting, pick up the winner,” he said.

Phyzix also said that Zimbabwean award-winning hip-hop artist Stunner, who he collaborated with alongside Stevoh of Zambia in a single titled ‘Jealousy’ last year, has shown interest to take part in the contest.

The album Flaws is Phyzix’s 14th project and is expected to feature 16 songs tackling issues affecting the society.
