Musician Phyzix of the ‘Cholapitsa’ fame on Sunday added his firepower to the creative industry as he launched Balaka Got Talent through his It’s Only Entertainment.
Phyzix real name Noel Chikoleka said Tuesday he is excited to launch the Balaka Got Talent, which will among others, help unearth talent.
“The Balaka Got Talent will run for five months. The launch was a massive success because more than 500 people came and 25 upcoming musicians registered and performed,” Phyzix said.
He revealed that 18 made it to the next round which will be held this month.
“I am happy with the response received and I can also say it here that there are other sponsors who have shown interest to support the initiative. Nadia Onions, a business lady based in Blantyre but from Balaka has already sponsored K100,000,” he said.
Phyzix said It’s Only Entertainment aims at nurturing young talent and help building the country’s creative industry.
“There is a lot of talent out there but most of it has not been exposed because there are no platforms. So through this Balaka Got Talent we hope to play a part in offering that stage,” he said.
On his choice of Balaka, Phyzix said he performed in the district last year and that the support he received led him to put up the talent show.
However, several players have come out with pomp launching talent shows which have later ended up dying a natural death.
But Phyzix said he is determined to continue the talent show and that it is serious project.
“We received so much love in Balaka last year and we also discovered that was a lot of talent. For now we can only do a talent show in Balaka, we cannot support everyone and what we have done is a platform for five months to crown the winner,” he said.
Phyzix also said the talent show will help to keep the youth busy.
“Nobody in the company is from Balaka but we felt so much love for music,” he said.
The winner in the Balaka Got Talent is expected to walk away with K300,000.
Phyzix is one of the judges in the talent show alongside Barry Uno and Hyphen.
The three judges also had time to perform during the event.
Recently Phyzix came out to announce that he had teamed up with Barry Uno to release an album titled The Diaries.
The Diaries according to Phyzix is a compilation that he indicated will take people through their artistry life, achievements and failures they have had in their music careers.
Meanwhile the two artists have dropped two singles ‘Zimandiwawa’ and ‘Chovala Chosasita’.
