PIL donates desks to Mulunguzi CDSS

Petroleum Importer s Limited (PIL) yesterday handed over a donation of 50 desks to Mulunguzi Community Day Secondary School in Blantyre.

The school is situated in Chiromoni township and has an enrolment of 400 students.

PIL General Manager Enwell Kadango said many schools in the country lack a lot of things for their education, including the absence of desks in classrooms.

“That is why PIL thought it wise to help the school with donation of desks. We believe that with this donation, something will definitely change for the better,” said Kadango.

He said PIL is committed to continuing with its corporate social responsibility which will take them to other education divisions in the country.

Mulunguzi is the fourth school to benefit from the donation from PIL following similar donations made by the company to Njuli CDSS in Chiradzulu, Kadzakalowa CDSS in Ntcheu and Gumba CDSS in Mchinji.

Kadango said as PIL, they believe in education as a means of developing greatest abilities.

“In each one of us there is a hope and dream which, if fulfilled, can be translated into benefits for everyone and which would be greatest strength for our nation,” he added.

Mulunguzi CDSS head teacher, Rodrick Jamu, hailed PIL for the desks – saying they will go a long way in uplifting the standards of education at the school.

He appealed to students at the school to work hard in class so that they selected to go to the university.

Jamu appealed to other well-wishers to help the school with computers and printers for printing examinations.
