PIL donates to Mchinji school

Petroleum Importers Limited (PIL) has donated fifty desks worth K1.5 million to Gumba Community Day Secondary School in Traditional Authority Gumba in Mchinji where students have been learning while seated on stones.

Presenting the donation on Wednesday, PIL general Manager, Enwell Kadango, said the company’s decided to make the donation after getting touched with the plight of the students at Gumba.

He said it was his company quest to partner with the government in uplifting the standards of education in the country.

“We will reach out to more schools so that more Malawian youths benefit,” said Kadango.

“Education transforms ordinary people to become extraordinary individuals capable of transforming their country economically. We are investing in education because we want to be part of the transformation of Malawi,” he said.

He disclosed that this year alone, PIL has made a donation of desks and other learning to two schools in Chiradzulu and Ntcheu where Njuli and Kadzakalowa CDSS benefitted respectively.

Apart from education, Kadango said PIL is also working with government to assist in the health sector as a way of uplifting living standards of the people in Malawi.

Beaming with excitement, Head teacher for Gumba CDSS, Chrispin Chasowa, expressed gratitude for the donations describing it as a big morale booster to the students who, he said, had now been dignified with a conducive learning environment through the provision of the desks from PIL.
