Platinum Stars reject Robert Ng’ambi bid
Flames attacking midfielder Robert Ng’ambi’s chances of staying at South African Premier Soccer League side, Platinum Stars, are high after the club rejected Supersport United’s offer for the player.
Ng’ambi has generated a lot of interest for his impressive performance at Platinum Stars with Supersport United and Orlando Pirates leading the chase for his signature.
However, South Africa’s football magazine, Kick Off, reported on Monday that Platinum Stars had rejected Supersport United’s transfer bid for Ng’ambi.
Supersport United chief executive officer Stan Matthews, confirmed that the club was interested in signing Ng’ambi who is in the last year of his contract with Platinum Stars.
“We have spoken to Platinum Stars a few times. Senzo Masingiza was clear that the player was not for sale. They are not going to release him,” said Matthews in an interview with Kick Off.
“He is a player we would have loved to have from an experience point of view and what he could add may be to our title challenge.”
Supersport United also made an offer to Bidvest Wits for Siyabonga Nhlapo, but it was also turned down.
In an interview last week, Ng’ambi told The Daily Times that he was concentrating on achieving more success at Platinum Stars.
“I am looking forward to doing better for the club next season since I struggled last season due to injuries. It is always my goal to improve my performance in every season. That has been the trend in the three years I have been at Platinum Stars,” he said.
