Mulanje-based poet Raphael Sitima has embarked on a journey of a new poetry album in which he has collaborated with a number of musicians.
Sitima said he has already made progress on the project set to have 10 poems.
“I have featured a musician in each and every poem in this album; meaning to say that there is a background song done by a Malawian musician whose concept is related to the poem and the musician also appears in the video for the poem,” he said.
The poet said he has adopted the new strategy of featuring musicians in his poems to give people something new.
“I have never featured musicians in my previous albums; this is a new strategy for me,” he said.
Some of the musicians he has worked with in the album include Blaze and Rashley.
He said, in preparation for the new album, a new poetry video titled ‘Kwathu’ is set for release on April 30 2021.
“‘Kwathu’, in which I have featured Rashley, has been produced at Tuff Beats and Agulo Records in Blantyre and Mulanje, respectively, and directed by VJ Ken of Auto Focus Media,” he said.
Sitima came into the limelight in 2014 after releasing a poem titled ‘Chala Changa’.
He has three albums to his credit namely Kalata kwa Jailosi, Chala Changa and Mfiti za Mfiti.
