Police Thursday arrested Member of Parliament for Mulanje West, Bon Kalindo, for allegedly displaying disorderly conduct at Balaka Police Station and insulting President Peter Mutharika.
National Police spokesperson, James Kadadzera, said the UTM director of youth was taken to Area 30 for questioning.
Kadadzera alleged that Kalindo did not behave in an orderly manner when Vice- President Saulos Chilima’s two aides were in custody at Balaka Police Station.
The aides, Joshua Valera and Kushi Unyolo, were arrested after representing Chilima at the launch of Chiwanja cha Ayao on Sunday.
“He has been charged in line with Section 153(1) of the Police Act, which addresses the issue of [displaying] disorderly conduct at a police station, as well as Section 4 of Protected Flags, Names and Emblems Act, as far as insulting the Head of State is concerned,” he said
