Police have no intention to arrest Speaker of Parliament

Police say they have no plans to arrest Speaker of Parliament for allegedly aiding MP Jessie Kabwila to flee from police arrest.

Kabwila is said to have used the Speaker’s car PAR 1 to head for the German Embassy. Police arrested her before she got to the embassy. Police spokesperson Nicholas Gondwa is reported in media alleging that the Speaker had aided Kabwila’s escape from Parliament.

Meanwhile Speaker of Parliament Richard Msowoya said that police erred in setting up a road block near Parliament and arresting parliamentarians while the House is sitting.
