Poly netball team is back
After a two-year break, Polytechnic netball side has returned to Rainbow Paints Southern Region Netball League action.
The team will start its league assignment tomorrow when hosting Serenity Stars at Polytechnic Annexe Court.
The leagues General Secretary, Annie Hanjahanja, said Polytechnic were the 10th and the last team to join the league this season.
The students have replaced Chitakale Sisters who did not show commitment to play in the league.
“There were some teams that inquired [about participation] but Polytechnic was more serious and that is why we entertained them. They have been in the league before, so it was not difficult to accept them back,” she said.
Hanjahanja said they will rework their fixture to ensure that Polytechnic catch up with the rest of the teams.
“We need to consider that they have started the season a bit late and they also need to go for holiday. So, when we are working on the fixtures, we will do so bearing in mind that they are students who also need to concentrate on their studies,” she said.
Polytechnic Captain, Edda Mkombezi, said they were longing for a return to the league.
“We are ready to compete in the league after a two-year break. We have been training and we are ready for the challenge,” she said.
Polytechnic, as usual, face the challenge of giants such as Kukoma Diamonds, Thunder Queens and Tigresses.
