Polytechnic netball team skipper, Israellah Chirwa, has admitted that they are struggling on their return to the Rainbow Paints Southern Region Netball League.
Chirwa said most of the team’s players are yet to come to terms playing against big-name players in the league.
However, the team has improved in the second-round, having defeated Young Professionals 46-30 at Blantyre Youth Centre on Sunday.
“It was the first time that most of us were playing against national team players. So, we couldn’t play competitively against such opposition,” she said.
Chirwa said Polytechnic were adapting to the demands of the league, having collected seven points in 10 games.
“We are on position nine but if we can do better in some games, we will move towards a good position,” she said.
Meanwhile, Young Professionals skipper, Sarai Chizaka, attributed the team’s poor run of form to poor officiation and lack of a qualified coach.
Professionals anchor the 10-member log table with four points.
