MADE THE ANNOUNCEMENT—Mwala

The Public Private Partnership Commission (PPPC) has said it is making headway in its quest to digitise government system and is identifying a consultant to develop the system.

The government will start implementing an E-Government Procurement System to be housed by the Public Procurement and Disposal of Assets authority.

PPPC believes there is need to enhance awareness of the system.

E-Government will see all government operations shifting from manual dealings to electronic.

PPPC Acting Chief Executive Officer, Audrey Mwala, said it is time Malawi follows the world in going digital in all procurement procedures.

“The system will bring efficiency. It is very easy to lose or alter records that are manual but with an electronic system of this nature it will allow records keeping to be done properly,” Mwala said.

PPPC is identifying firms to invest in the infrastructure, procuring the necessary software and a contractor who will assist in the construction of the data centre.

Mwala said installation of the system may commence towards end of next year.
