Injured Nyasa Big Bullets skipper John Lanjesi and left-back Precious Sambani have not been included in the People’s Team squad for Caf Champions League.
Their counterparts Silver Strikers have also failed to make additions to their squad ahead of Caf Confederation Cup games.
Football Association of Malawi (Fam) Club Licencing and Compliance Manager Casper Jangale confirmed the development following the close of the registration window on Saturday.
“They all completed their squads as the window closed on Saturday (July 31). We are looking forward to seeing them in action,” Jangale said.
Bullets have registered 27 players, including newly signed attackers Babatunde Adepoju, Antony Mfune and Paul Kansungwi, while Silver have maintained their 32-member squad after failing to sign Civil Service United striker Muhammad Sulumba.
However, Silver have registered Chitipa United midfielder Emmanuel Muyira even though the terms and details of the deal were sketchy.
The draw for both Caf Champions League and Confederation Cup will take place on August 15 in Cairo, Egypt.
Bullets Chief Administration Officer Albert Chigoga confirmed having registered 27 players ahead of the competition.
“It is true about the names we have registered. We got recommendation from the technical panel to have these players. As administration we facilitated the process,” he said.
Chigoga confirmed that Sambani and Lanjesi have been left out as they are feared to miss the remainder of the season.
Silver Strikers Marketing and Communications Officer David Daniel Dauda confirmed the development.
“We have the confidence in all the players we have registered with recommendations from the technical panel. We are looking forward to the draw,” he said.
