Premier Bet says during the one year it has been operating in the country, it has registered over 70 percent growth and created jobs for over 300 Malawians.
Officials of the company said this on the sidelines of a K1.4 million cheque presentation to Benjamin Chiwaya, who emerged winner of one of the games being run by Premier Bet.
Premier Bet Operations Director, Joao Morales, said Malawians have responded to the business positively.
He said for the first few months, participation was slow because many people did not understand the game.
“When introducing the game to people, it is important to first teach them how to play. So for the first few months, we had to teach the players how to enjoy the game.
“After that, we have seen growth in the business on a monthly basis,” said Morales.
Morales said the company has opened 52 shops across the country and has employed 300 Malawians.
He said as Premier Bet, they are interested in improving the welfare of Malawians.
“We will continue to expand at the same time we will also be giving back to the community through various donations we have lined up.
“Already we have signed an agreement to sponsor Wizard Football team. This is part of our corporate social responsibility” he said.
On his part Chiwaya said betting is a game of chance.
“Sometimes you win, sometimes you don’t. I thank God that this time I have managed to win a big prize, “he said.
Chiwaya who is a business man said part of his prize money will be invested in his business.
