Premier Wizards aim for 25 points

Premier Bet Wizards have set themselves a target of 25 points in the TNM Super League’s first round.

Wizards’ Coach, Trevor Kajawa, said this following his side’s 1-0 win over Mzuni FC at Mzuzu Stadium on Saturday.

Misheck Bottom’s spot-kick earned Wizards, who have lost once in eight league games, maximum points.

“It was a tough a game. Coming to Mzuni and get all the points is a great achievement. These points will be our driving factor for us to finish among the top eight sides so that we can participate in the Airtel Top 8 Cup next year.

“Right now we just want to collect 25 points by the end of the first round so that we should not have much work to do in the second round,” Kajawa said after condemning Mzuni to their third straight league defeat.

Mzuni Coach, Alex Ngwira, however, insisted that it was too early to suggest that his team was in a crisis.

“That is how football is. We were winning and drawing and now we are losing… it is normal. We did not play badly today. Their goal came through a penalty and we were a better side for about 75 minutes, so this is not a crisis,” Ngwira said.

In Lilongwe, there was a goals’ galore at Civo Stadium in Lilongwe on Saturday as Civil Sporting Club and Blue Eagles played out to 3-3 draw.

Mphatso Philimon netted a hat-trick for Eagles whereas Righteous Banda, Raphael Phiri and Fletcher Bandawe scored for Civil.

Eagles have 12 points from eight games whereas Civil have eight points from the same number of games.

In a post-match reaction, Civil assistant Coach, Oscar Kaunda, said his side conceded cheap goals.

“It was a good game but we made some silly mistakes,” Kaunda said.

Eagles Coach, Audloy Makonyola, said his charges lost concentration.

“The players did well but at a certain stage, we relaxed a bit. We could have won the game had it been that we had maintained our tempo,” he said.

Elsewhere, Blantyre United’s poor showing in the league continued when they lost 1-2 to Dwangwa United at MDC Stadium in Blantyre .
