One of the winners of Powertex Limited promotion dubbed Drive For Free has urged Malawians to promote local firms.

Established in 2014, Powertex launched a three-month promotion, where three lucky customers had a chance to win 100 litres of fuel after purchasing vehicle batteries from the company.

A Blantyre-based winner, Charles Mkomba, said he was attracted to enter the promotion because Powertex is one of the companies owned by young Malawian entrepreneurs.

“It is interesting to note that these days the youth are now creating jobs for themselves,” Mkomba said.

He said as Malawians we need to support each other to grow our economy.

“Powertex offers durable and genuine car batteries and for the company to grow, it needs our support as Malawians. It is these local companies that can build our nation as their profits also benefit fellow Malawians,” he said.

Powertex Chief Executive Officer, Itayi Chidzero, said they decided to run the promotion to give back to its customers.

He said the promotion has managed to achieve its intended objective.

“We wanted Malawians to appreciate the products that we are offering and throughout the promotion, we have seen increased numbers of customers and we believe they will continue supporting us,” Chidzero said.

He further urged motorists to use genuine spare parts on their vehicles to avoid paying more than expected.

The other lucky winners of the promotion are Lilongwe based Patrick Chidothi and Mphatso Dumba.
