Protea, one of the leading accommodation units in the country, is only available in Blantyre, trading under Ryalls Hotel.

The event was meant to keep the customers updated on the refurbishments that re taking place at Ryalls Hotel.

Lehner said plans are at advanced stage to expand Protea’s footprints and construct a hotel with similar standard to Ryalls in Lilongwe.

“We have been doing processes like acquiring land and feasibility study. We will be constructing a hotel in Lilongwe with similar standards like the one in Blantyre,” said Lehner.

He said the business in the year that is coming to an end has been good with customer support despite the current economic challenges that have reduced spending.

Lehner said the corporate sector is the one that has so far given the 4 star hotel much of the support describing the year as successful.

The hotel industry is one of the industries that experiences slow business amid the economic woes the country is experiencing but according to Ryalls Hotel this has had a minimal impact on their business.
