Protesters descend on Rev Killion Mgawi’s house
By Pilirani Kachinziri:

Anti-Jane Ansah protesters in Nkhoma, Lilongwe Friday descended on the house of Malawi Electoral Commision (Mec) Commissioner the Very Reverend Killion Mgawi.
Mec spokesperson Sangwani Mwafulirwa said the demonstrators broke the fence and went away with household items and farm produce.
“The family is unable to access the house now. Once they access the place, they will be able to give better picture of the stolen items,” he said.
Mwafulirwa said the house was guarded by the police but they were outnumbered by the mob.
“That is why they could not offer security to the house. We are so fortunate that the commissioner and the family were not present,” he said.

Mwafulirwa also said one of the Mec staff members was also attacked by protesters in Lilongwe.
“The mob barricaded the road at Nanjiri and was demanding money for people (motorists) to have safe passage. …our member of staff gave them but they still broke glasses for our vehicle before he ran away,” he said.
Human Rights Defenders Coalition have been organising the demonstrations to force Mec Chairperson Jane Ansah to resign for allegedly messing up May 21 Tripartite Elections which declared Democratic Progressive Party torch bearer Peter Mutharika winner.
