The Public Relations Society of Malawi (PRSM) on Friday decorated FDH Financial Holdings Chief Executive Officer, Thomson Mpinganjira with an honorary fellow medal for his contributions towards public relations in the country.
The award was presented to Mpinganjira during this year’s PRSM Annual General Meeting which was held at Sunbird Nkopola Lodge in Mangochi.
PRSM Executive Member and Awards Committee Chairperson, Thom Khanje said Mpinganjira scored highly on both number of nomination and cited reasons.
“We thought of his contributions to the country; he has helped institutions, the needy, netball, football and other sectors, so we wanted to appreciate his work, hence honoring him with the award,” Khanje said.
The FDH boss who was also key-note speaker at the meeting said it was an honour to get the recognition.
“This is a great honour to me because I did not expect it. This is more surprising considering that it is coming from an organisation which I am not a member but they are able to recognise the work I have rendered,” Mpinganjira said.
During his keynote address, Mpinganjira advised the PRSM members to always tell the truth.
“Let me urge you to always tell your bosses the truth as this will serve the face of institutions you are working with. At times, you will have to argue with your superior as they may want you to lie but you have to stand by the truth,” Mpinganjira said.
Meanwhile, British Deputy High Commissioner to Malawi Matthew Halksworth urged institutions to make the most of public relations personnel to enhance their images.
He commended practitioners for taking a right direction towards professional image building.
Halksworth then challenged the players to play a role in building a good image for the country
