Public Affairs Committee calls for all-inclusive indaba

The Public Affairs Committee (Pac) board has agreed to host an all-inclusive stakeholders meeting which seeks to tackle economic and governance issues.
Following a meeting the quasi-religious organisation’s leaders organised last week, the board agreed to engage stakeholders that are familiar with issues affecting Malawi to help in offering solutions.
Pac Executive Director Robert Phiri confirmed the development but could not give further details.
“Yes there was a board meeting and we are contemplating hosting the 6th all-inclusive stakeholder’s conference next month even though we have not come up with dates yet,” he said.
Speaking in a separate interview, Pac Publicity Secretary Bishop Gilford Matonga told The Daily Times that they believe that such a conference would come up with ideas that could help the government tick.
Matonga hinted that Pac is waiting to hear from President Lazarus Chakwera on when he [Chakwera] would grant it an audience to discuss issues affecting the country.
Pac is of the view that there was progress on some issues, but not on others.
“For instance, the issue of corruption is really hitting us hard, and [then] there is the issue of economic performance… These are the two issues we think it would be necessary to address and discuss with the head of State,” Matonga said.
