Purple C moves on

At 19, Purple C, real name Albert Makhaliremo, is an award-winning reggae dance-hall artist.

In fact, he seems to be moving fast as, this month, he has released the album Extraordinary, coming immediately after ‘Random intentions’ mixtape, which was released last year.

Extraordinary has 15 songs composed by Purple C and produced by Abstract Records, a body comprising two producers namely EQ and Mzota (Abstract records) and Successor as talent manager .

Purple C said in an interview that his album is aiming at local and international markets, specifically targeting the youth and the elderly.

“The theme of the album is centred on uplifting people and promoting love,” he said.

Some of his songs have sailed directly into the welcoming arms of music fans, notably ‘The good life’, which is basically a party song.

He explains why he has decided to release one song ahead of the launch.

“I want people to have a feel of the music, get familiar with it and to get them ready for the massive album launch that is on offer.

The Album has featured Malawi’s award-winning rhythm and blues icon Theo Thompson and fast-rising vocalist and singer Tsar Leo.

Purple C said he is excited that the project has been completed: “We have been working on this album since last year, and I am excited that we are finally releasing this album” he said.

“I would like to thank my manager Successor and team for the trust they have in my talent. I also would like to thank my producers for their effort,” Purple C said.

Extra ordinary is Purple C’s first album after breaking into the music scene in 2015 and scooping the award of Best New Comer [2016-2017] in Nyasa Music Awards.

The album has songs such as ‘Turn me over’, ‘Malawi’ and ‘Take time’ featuring Theo Thomson.

The artist said the album would be spiced with videos that have just been worked on.

“Very soon, we will announce dates of releasing the videos we have worked on. People should know that we selected songs from the album to satisfy people that love my music,” Purple C said.

Purple C introduced his art with songs such as ‘Hot like a sun’, ‘Not at all’ and ‘Heart’.

He was nominated as the UMP best new artist in 2016 but he won an award in a similar category in Nyasa Music Awards in 2017.

Extraordinary is currently being sold in Blantyre.
