Celebrated poet Q Malewezi will launch his new album Son of A Preacher’s Son in April this year.
The artist however, could not give out more details as regards the album saying at the moment he is more focused on the first single from the project titled ‘Father And Son’ which he dropped on December 23, 2022.
The single has since received overwhelming response from people.
Q, who achieved great feats last year, including starring at Requiem for Justice 2022 in Mexico and Poetry Africa in South Africa, said that ‘Father And Son’ is a special tribute dedicated to the memory of his late father the Right Honourable Dr Justin Malewezi.
“It features afro-soul musician and vocalist Sindi on accompanying vocals and Paul Kachala on piano,” he said.
Q’s father, the country’s former vice president, died in April last year.
Composed, written and produced by himself, ‘Father And Son’, takes a deep dive into the emotions that are experienced during grief.
He said ‘Father And Son’ was recorded by Praise Umali at Manifest and that it will be distributed as audio on all streaming platforms as well as video on his YouTube channel.
The founder of Living Room Poetry Club in Lilongwe has two poetry anthologies to his belt namely The Road Taken and Little Discoveries.
