Malawi National Netball Team Coach Peace Chawinga- Kaluwa has said the three-nation friendly games will help the technical panel assess all the players before naming the final squad for Commonwealth Games.
Queens will this morning meet hosts South Africa in a closed-door tournament before meeting England Tuesday.
“The games are important in such a way that we are preparing for Commonwealth Games. We used some players in Malawi and now we will use all players against teams which are above us,” she said.
Chawinga-Kaluwa said meeting England prior to the Commonwealth Games was tricky as they were paired in the same group.
“Apart from that, we will still play England in our group. We played them a long time ago and this is a chance to have that taste. Despite these being practice matches where we want to gear up and try all our combinations and see how they will go. And these are the games we want to give all players much time as some players have not played at this level,” she said.
Queens will conclude the tour on Saturday July 2, with a match against South Africa.
The Commonwealth Games will feature the top 12 ranked teams in the world and the Queens are in Group B, having been paired with Uganda again.
Other teams include England, New Zealand, Trinidad and Tobago and Northern Ireland.
