Rainbow Paints League to commence end July
The Rainbow Paints Southern Region Netball League is set to throw-off at the end of July.
The league’s General Secretary, Annie Hanjahanja, confirmed the throw off and asked teams not to despair after being on off-season break for four months.
Hanjahanja said they were waiting for Netball Association of Malawi (Nam) to instruct its affiliates to hold elections.
“As we communicated at the end of last season, we were waiting for Nam to hold its polls as well as all its regional affiliates. There was no need to disrupt the league with issues concerning elections. We can assure the teams that the league will throw-off late July,” she said.
Hanjahanja requested teams to commence preparations to avoid being caught off-guard when the season throws-off.
However, Gerald Tasaukadala, who owns Gerald Tasaukadala Sisters, said there was need for official communication from the league.
“We need to know what is happening. Every team is entitled to know when the league will kick-off, otherwise we cannot start preparations when we are not sure,” he said.
Kukoma Diamonds reclaimed the league championship after snatching it from Tigresses.
