Rainbow Paints netball re-launch on
The long-awaited Rainbow Paints Southern Region Netball League is expected to be re-launched tomorrow at Blantyre Youth Centre.
The league has delayed by two months following elections that Netball Association of Malawi (Nam) and its affiliates held recently.
The league’s General Secretary, Annie Hanjahanja, said they were delighted at Rainbow Paints’ commitment to continued sponsorship. The paint manufacturers started sponsoring the league in 2012.
“Everything is set for the re-launch of the league. We hope teams have had fantastic preparations and are dying to get back into action,” she said.
Hanjahanja said the league would still register 10 teams.
“So far, nine teams have confirmed their participation and we are only waiting for Chitakale Sisters. We have given them up to Wednesday [today] to confirm their availability, otherwise, we will consider teams on the standing by list,” she said.
Kukoma Diamonds are the league’s defending champions.
Rainbow Paints, initially, started sponsoring the Southern Region Top VI Netball Series before stepping in to replace OG Issa Group of Companies as the league’s sponsor in 2014.
