Raiply Volleyball qualifiers on track

With two weeks to go before the K3 million Raiply National Trophy finals in Mzuzu, Northern and Southern leagues have completed qualifying matches for the showpiece.

Matches in the South were played at Blantyre Youth Centre where Thunders, Cobbe Artillery and Stingers qualified in the men’s category whereas Gemz made it from the ladies’ section.

In the Northern Region, the qualifiers took place at Katoto Courts in Mzuzu where Moyale, Police Eagle Claws, Katoto Trickers and Mzokoto made it from the men’s category.

In the ladies’ category, Katoto Trickers, Moyale, Mzuzu Academy and Marymount Secondary School qualified.

The Central Region has identified Lilongwe Spikers out of the required three teams from the men’s category.

The region’s qualifiers will be completed with a meeting between Kamuzu Barracks and Blue Eagles on Saturday at Lilongwe Community Centre Ground.

The loser of the match between the soldiers and the policemen will play Mipuniro to decide the third-best team.

Blue Eagles and Snipers in the ladies’ category will represent the region.

Volleyball Association of Malawi (Vam) General Secretary, Jairos Nkhoma, said preparations for the showpiece were completed last week.

Southern Region Volleyball Committee Chairperson, Pacharo Ngwira, said with commitment and dedication, the region’s teams can end their poor performance at the tournament.
