Northern Region Pool League (NRPL) has bemoaned lack of resources, saying it is hindering their efforts of developing the sport in the region.

The league’s general secretary Innocent Mandevu said they were facing numerous challenges including lack of equipment such as pool tables which is limiting the development of the sport.

“We have two pool tables in the region and it is difficult to use them. We need support from the corporate world and the general public as a whole,” Mandevu said.

He said this on Saturday during the finals of the K200,000 Northern Region Pool Cup held at Nayeja- Dunduzu in Mzuzu.

Out of 12 teams that participated in the cup, Wazilala emerged winners after beating Wauke Stars 6-2.

For winning, Wazilala received K80,000 and a cup while Wauke got K50,000.

Wazilala Chairperson William Phiri said it was a good start for the new club.

“We are happy to have won the cup because, being a newly established team, it was not easy to come this far. We commend our players for displaying team spirit during the cup,” he said.

In reaction, Wauke Captain Kalonga Moses conceded defeat.

“There is nothing we can say but to congratulate our counterparts for winning the cup and we hope to do better next time,” Moses said.
