Musician and producer Hope Lufani, a brother to renowned musician Dan Lu, was laid to rest at his home M’baluku in Mangochi District on Saturday.

Hope died on Thursday at Koche Catholic Hospital in Mangochi District after a long illness.

The artist, who was born on May 20 1987, was in October last year diagnosed with cancer.

Having worked with a number of musicians, recording their albums and performing with them live including his brother Dan Lu, Hope, also worked on his own songs and was working on another album.

Dan Lu said he was at pains with his brother’s death.

I started performing with him when I was 13 years old. Hope grew in music, I performed with him from 2006 to 2010 and was also band leader of my group Rockers Band until later when he started his own group, he knew music, was a producer and was a friend,” Dan Lu said as he shed tears.

Veteran promoter Jai Banda popularly known as Mr Entertainer, who spoke on behalf of musicians during the burial ceremony, described Hope as a talented young man.

“He was a complete artist. He was good on stage playing different instruments with the keyboard being his main instrument. He was also good in the studio as a producer. Prior to his demise, I was working with him as he was about to release an album,” he said.

Mangochi-based musician Francis Dangoman Kadango of the ‘Manga Mabuleki’ fame, said Hope was a reliable keyboardist in the country.

Another musician Orthodox Roots real name Evans Kumatso, said they worked with Hope for some time and that he was a talented artist.
