Returnees to boost Moyale Barracks FC
In what could be a big boost ahead of the 2017 season, Moyale Barracks FC are set to welcome key players from foreign mission.
Striker Deus Nkutu, attacker Clifford Fukizi and goalkeeper McDonald Harawa are expected to rejoin the Mzuzu side in May, Moyale , Coach, Collins Nkuna, confirmed yesterday.
The three players missed the 2016 season as they were on Malawi Defence Force duty in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Nkuna, whose side struggled in the 2016 TNM Super League and lost in the Presidential Cup final to Nyasa Bullets, hoped that his charges would bounce back strongly next season.
“There is no doubt that these are quality players who will make a difference to the team,” he said.
“However, I cannot attribute our failure to win silverware last season to their absence. Afterall, when I arrived there last season, these players had already left for the DRC.”
Fukizi is a versatile attacker whereas Nkutu is a top striker who usually partners Gastin Simkonda upfront. Harawa was, until last year, Malawi National Football Team’s number one keeper.
Last season, Nkuna relocated to Moyale after leaving Red Lions.
Elsewhere, reigning Super League champions, Kamuzu Barracks, are set to lose to foreign mission players such as Dave Banda and Harvey Nkacha.
