Rice conference slated for June 2
The 2016 Rice Marketing Conference is scheduled to take place on June 2 at the Crossroads Hotel in Lilongwe.
The National Rice Development Platform (NRDP), the coordinating body in the Rice Value Chain in the country, says the meeting is aimed at enhancing collaboration of stakeholders in the value cha into consolidate various efforts to advance and promote the development of a competitive rice value chain in Malawi.
In a statement released Wednesday, NRDP said the conference will also provide a platform for buyer-seller interface and for sharing experiences on local and export markets.
“The conference has been organised to provide a platform for disseminating information on potential export markets and local supply for the 2016 season,” the statement reads in part.
The meeting is also expected to provide a stage for dialogue among the stakeholders in order to promote agricultural and rural development through a more commercially focused rice value chain in Malawi.
