Struggling South Africa DStv Premiership side Baroka FC boosted relegation survival chances with a 1-0 win over Lamontville Golden Arrows on Wednesday.

The win took Baroka, who featured Malawi National Football Team striker Richard Mbulu, to 21 points on the table but they remain rooted to the bottom of the 16-team league.

The team will be fancying its chances of collecting three more points away at Chippa United tomorrow.

Baroka have yet to win on the road, which is why they find themselves in the current predicament.

Mbulu said the team was capable of surviving relegation, though doing so would not be easy.

“Things are not looking good at the moment. We have struggled a lot but we are still pushing to win all our remaining matches. We are doing all we can to make this mission possible. We remain optimistic that surviving relegation is possible,” he said.

Mbulu joined Baroka in 2019 with compatriot Gerald Phiri Jnr, who left the club early this year to join Sudanese giants Al Hilal.
