Singer Ritaa, real name Rita Kalonga, has said that she is moving in the right direction as she gears to release her debut album Nthawi.
The artist has since released the title track of the album whose music video will hit the market on Friday.
Ritaa last year made history when she claimed the Urban Music People (UMP) Female Artist of the Year award.
“Grabbing the UMP Female Artist of the Year award last year was something special looking at the work that I did and this has motivated me to do more,” she said.
Ritaa said she has so far managed to record seven songs as she looks forward to releasing a 10-track album.
“I can’t wait to have this album on the market. It even makes me happy because it is my first album. I have been releasing singles but it’s now time to have this album,” she said.
Some of the songs she has released feature other artists and they include ‘Kuwawa’ which she collaborated with Piksy.
“Last year I dropped three singles and, apart from ‘Kuwawa’, which received an overwhelming response, I also dropped ‘Mubwere’ and ‘M’bebe,” she said.
On the song ‘Nthawi’ (time), Ritaa takes time to give hope that, no matter the challenges, “time will come when you will pull through and that everything has got its time”.
Ritaa has stuck to producer Sispence, who has produced the track. Sispence has also worked with Ritaa in some of her songs including ‘Kuwawa’.
