President Robert Mugabe’s spokesman has dismissed rumours that the president suffered a heart attack while on vacation in the Far East.

Presidential spokesman George Charamba told ‘The Herald’ newspaper that online reports were a ‘grim lie’.

George Charamba told Zimbabwe’s The Herald newspaper that online reports were a ‘grim lie’ meant to earn money for the websites that published it.

Charamba says there is no doubt that there will be a story on the president’s alleged death each January.

He adds the government is exploring ways to deal with false stories published by external websites.
Many locals were dismissive of yesterday’s story.

They came after a private daily on Tuesday published a picture of the first family, reportedly taken during their current vacation, which showed Mugabe in apparent good health.
