On-and-off Malawi national football team and South Africa Premier Soccer League side Black Leopards attacking midfielder Robert ‘Baggio’ Ng’ambi is out of action until next weekend.
Ng’ambi sustained a knee injury during training last week, forcing him to miss Leopards’ 3-2 league victory over Maritzburg United.
The former Nyasa Big Bullets star said he hoped to return from the injury and help his team survive relegation.
“It feels bad to miss games when the team is struggling. I expect to return next week. Missing games at this stage is disappointing. I need to make my contribution towards the fight against relegation.
“I am still receiving treatment and I should be back by next week. Sustaining injuries as the league is at its toughest is a setback for any player. But I expect things to get better,” Ng’ambi said.
The Malawian will also miss tomorrow’s encounter against Golden Arrows as Lidodha Duvha continue to battle for survival.
Leopards are stuck at the bottom of the table with 23 points and a win will see them moving to 13th in the 16-member league.
Meanwhile, Ng’ambi’s compatriots had none of such injury worries as they featured in Tuesday night’s action.
Gerald Phiri Junior and Richard Mbulu featured for Baroka FC in their 1-1 stalemate against Gabadinho Mhango’s Orlando Pirates.
The point took Baroka to position 13 on the log table with 25 points while Pirates remain third with 43 points.
