By Mabvuto Kambuwe:

Malawi national football team on-and-off striker Robin Ngalande is expected to fly out of South Africa to Azerbaijan today to start a new lease of life at his new club.

The forward has reportedly finalised his Visa processes in South Africa for the trip to the east European country.

However, the player’s manager, Paul Mitchel of Siyavuma Sports Group, has kept a tight lid on the identity of the club.

But sources in South Africa indicate that Ngalande’s potential club is currently in Turkey for special training as it is struggling in the league.

This means the former Masters Security FC attacker will wait longer to meet his new teammates as the team continues training to revive its flagging fortunes.

Ngalande has been identified as one of the solutions to the team’s woes this season.

His last club was South African Premier Soccer League (PSL) side Baroka FC, where he terminated his three-year contract.

Ngalande has struggled to settle with one team in the last five years, having played for PSL teams Ajax Cape Town, Platinum Stars and Bidvest Wits.

He started his football career with Civo United, where he was spotted by South African top side Mamelodi Sundowns during the 2009 African Youth Championship in Algeria where Malawi made a historic World Youth Championship qualification after claiming bronze.

In 2010, Spanish and European giants Atletico Madrid spotted him after impressive performances for Sundowns Academy during a youth tournament held in Spain.

Azerbaijan’s Premier League is called Topaz Premyer Ligasi.
