TNM Super League rookies, TN Stars and Karonga United, are keeping their fingers crossed, hoping to sign players that would be released by some teams.
Recently, Nyasa Big Bullets and Be Forward Wanderers hinted that they might release 12 and 10 players, respectively.
Karonga Coach, Christopher Nyambose, confirmed that they might go for the off-loaded players.
“If a player, who once played for a big team, is available, we cannot hesitate to sign them. We will approach them to see if they can feel comfortable to play for us,” he said.
“In addition, currently most players are contracted to their respective clubs, and to lure them out is an uphill task. So, we will just keep a close eye on whatever is happening among the top clubs, and hope for a possible catch.”
Stars General Secretary, Messiah Moyo, said his side would target players from relegated Blantyre United and Premier Bet Wizards.
“Specifically, we want to bolster the midfield and our striking force. We are fine in defence as we conceded a few goals,” Moyo said.
He confirmed that Stars are interested in signing 2017 Simama Premier Division top-scorer, Tonic Viyuyu, who netted 20 goals for Rumphi Pirates.
Moyo said Viyuyu was undergoing trials with the Kasungu-based team. Nchalo United have also secured promotion to the Super League but Coach Mabvuto Lungu is yet to hint at beefing up his squad.
